According to political circles in Sri Lanka, as per a request made by the representatives of the district, the Government decides not to contest in the Mullaitivu District in order to support MP Sri Ranga’s Citizens Front in the forthcoming local election.
Intellectuals and general public of the area, who support MP Sri Ranga for his remarkable services to the people of the Mullaitivu District, have recently met with the Government Ministers Basil Rajapaksa and Susil Premajayantha in this regard.
In order to fulfil the request made by the people who have been worst affected by war and as a goodwill gesture, the Government has decided to give such an opportunity to MP Sri Ranga’s Citizens Front. The Citizens Front is to contest with the ‘Bus’ symbol in the district.
MP Sri Ranga told the reporters that he is happy about the Government decision which respects the kind requests made by the people who have been heavily affected by the war in Sri Lanka.
It is worthwhile to note that MP Sri Ranga actively participates and supports the Government’s current rehabilitation and social services programmes in the District of Mullaitivu.
